H_G30 CABIN

FORM
The form which was created takes its origins from traditional Norwegian buildings- cabin with sloping roof, but reinterpretated with modern approach to design. Creating flat roof enable to admire the view from level of road and make space for alternative ways of using the roof- as a terrace or additional function in cabin. Using not only flat roof, but also two units with different height, makes space for sun to penetrate inside the designed cabin and gives its architecture another value. The cabin observed from the level of road appears to be small, but when standing in front of longer facade, division of two units can be seen very clear. That division gives designed cabin delicacy and good proportions.

Two units- higher and lower are references to traditional local housing- building that consists of two blocks put one on another. The function inside designed cabin is also divided into techical box- laundry and technical room; and space for living, such as dining room with kitchen, two bedrooms and bathroom. The difference in height between two units can be used as additional place for storage or sleeping and which is the main feature- lets the sun shine inside the house, reflecting its' rays on the highest wall in cabin. The main form of a cabin and its' location have been forced by natural angle of slope. On the plot there is enough space for parking the car in comfortable way, there is no need for additional stonework to equalize level of road. Cabin is therefore open for habitants and visitors with entrance from level of road with few steps going down to higher unit. 

POSSIBILITIES
Concept of two units is flexible and gives and opportunity for future solutions. With two modules: one for function of "living" and another as technical box, different and interesting ways of putting them together can be made- either parralel or perpendicular, one on or facing another and lots more. This brings design solutions, which can answer the needs of different locations in Norwegian nature.
