OFFICE INAINN designed 21-12 HOUSE, a three-unit residential building perched delicately on a steep slope, harmonizing with its natural surroundings. The horizontal form of the building follows the terrain, creating a sense of lightness while minimizing the impact on the landscape. The southern façade opens up to the magnificent mountain views of Møre and Romsdal, maximizing natural light and providing breathtaking vistas.
Minimal Impact, Maximum Harmony
The building’s design is rooted in the principle of minimal environmental disturbance. The structure is carefully positioned among the pine trees, with the natural forest floor preserved to maintain the ecological balance. The construction process itself was planned with minimal intervention in the terrain, ensuring the natural beauty of the site remained intact.
Materials that Blend with Nature
The building’s façade is composed of brick and low-emission concrete, materials chosen for their durability and environmental performance. The brick pattern reflects the textures of the surrounding landscape, creating a seamless integration between the architecture and its natural setting.
Function and Form Aligned
The layout of the interior follows the form of the building, with each module designed to optimize the views of the mountains. The highest module has been carefully oriented to enhance the panoramic views, while the entire structure is aligned to respect privacy and frame the surrounding scenery.
Maximizing Light and Views
The house is designed with large southern-facing windows to maximize daylight throughout the day. The orientation of the modules has been thoughtfully rotated to align with the key visual axes, ensuring that each space enjoys optimal views while maintaining privacy between the units.
Natural Environment as a Key Feature
Surrounded by a natural landscape of pine trees and forest undergrowth, 21-12 HOUSE sits lightly within its environment. Outdoor spaces are designed to blend with the surrounding nature, allowing residents to connect with the landscape while preserving the site’s natural character.
