Gallery "Chapel" in Orońsk, was a church until the deconstruction in 1978. Its form is based on the foundations of the classical Greek temple of the simple type, consisting of a porch, base and nave.
Through its construction, the chapel was an autonomous sacrum, cut off from its surroundings. The project is an attempt to reinterpret and move the sacred place into the forest. By operating on the meaning of building elements, the installation on the axis of the entrance to the chapel, consists of a horizontal and vertical platforma with vertical steel, 6m length, rods.
The threshold of the chapel, which divides the two realities: sacrum and profane, comes also as the point in which these two worlds come together, a boundary that allows to pass between one world and another.
The purpose of the project is to stop, to emphasize the moment of transition. The vertical nature of the object remains in opposition to the horizontal activity of the human being, by setting a fixed point, the center, referring to "experience" of the sacred. By slow movement of the structure, subjected to atmospheric conditions, the installation interacts with the surrounding trees, indicating the opening upward.
